The Challenge
In 2020, the traditional StuDay event in Antwerp — a major kick-off for new students — could not take place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 15,000 first-year students were starting their academic journey in Antwerp, many experiencing a pivotal moment in their lives under unusual circumstances. The challenge was to welcome these students, help them feel at home in their new city and give them a sense of connection to student life, all without the usual large-scale event.

Our Approach
STAN (Student & Antwerp) wanted to replicate the excitement of StuDays in a tangible, safe, and memorable way. Together with Trendwolves, they designed a StuDays Starter Pack: a carefully curated welcome gift that was ecological, visually appealing, and packed with goodies and experiences.
The approach focused on:
- Delivering an eco-friendly tote bag as the main carrier
- Including fun, practical items to help students explore and enjoy Antwerp
- Reflecting the StuDays experience through interactive elements and branded items
- Coordinating with partners to provide added value and memorable experiences

Activation
Trendwolves coordinated the creation and assembly of the StuDays Starter Pack, which included:
- Tote bag featuring the iconic StuDays visual
- Free passes and goodies: Nalu and Alpro drinks, Antwerpen Velo day ticket, Streamz access, and a Telenet The Park discount
- Student Guide Antwerp with seven city walks, a street plan poster, and a pencil bag
- Interactive touches: a branded wristband to mimic the event experience and a beer coaster with QR code linking to the aftermovie and ticket giveaways
We also supported the social media campaign, which offered 80 students a unique StuDays Household Session at Trix, featuring live performances from Nag Toekomst, High Hi, and The Calicos.

Our impact
The StuDays Starter Pack helped new students feel welcomed and connected to Antwerp and its student community despite the pandemic.
By combining practical tools, interactive experiences, and curated surprises, the project created excitement, fostered engagement, and allowed students to discover their city safely and memorably.
Through this initiative, Trendwolves ensured the StuDays spirit lived on, supporting STAN in welcoming thousands of students and making the start of their student journey truly special.
